Grandparent/Special Friend Day was a HUGE success! Thank you to everyone who helped to make it so wonderful- there were many of you that helped us pull it off! Click here to sign up for a conference | Theme This Week: Fall/Pumpkins Reading: Here are the concepts we will cover in Reading Street this week: Phonics: /a/ spelled Aa Phonemic Awareness: initial and medial /a/ NEW Popcorn Words/Sight Words: have, is Writing: The focus of our lessons this week: Students will bring home their published piece this week. We will begin a new unit- Writing True Stories- very similar to what we've been working on, but more emphasis on writing words and sentences, less on pictures and labels. We will start by writing in 3 page booklets! Math: This week we will work on: ten frames, collections in different arrangements, shapes, number stories THINGS TO PRACTICE AT HOME: 1. Popcorn Words: I, am, the little, a, to, have, is 2. Counting by 1's to 100 3. Counting backwards 4. Name Writing- with one capital letter at the beginning only 5. Letter and Sound indentification 6. Writing letters (upper and lowercase) THINGS SENT HOME THIS WEEK: 1. Unit 2 Math Home Links (again, these are activities for you to complete, at home, if you wish- nothing needs to be returned to school) THINGS WE NEED: 1. Leaves: please send in a large ziplock bag of leaves. We will be making leaf people. Please try to choose leaves that have freshly fallen, not ones that are crisp and crunchy. We are hoping to get a variation of leaves, so the bigger, or smaller, or more colorful they are...the better :) Please send in by Thursday. Have a great weekend! |
October 26th- PICTURE RE-TAKES:) Be sure to let me know that you plan on doing this, as it gets closer- so I am sure to send your child down.
October 28th- Popcorn Party: this is a reward from the PTA for raising so much money in the Fun Run.
October 31st: Halloween Parade and Party: parade starts at 12:00, party will follow. We will conclude by 1:00. *Students should come to school in their costume on this day*
November 18th- Kindergarten Pow Wow-

December 16th- Holiday Program, 9:30am
You'll want to mark this on your calendar- it is one of the bigger events of the year. We will perform at SALINE HIGH SCHOOL. The performance usually lasts about 30 minutes.
December 22nd, 9am: Pancakes and Pajamas
More information to come, but we will be serving pancakes for breakfast and wearing pajamas for the day.
