Check out a short video below- the students really wanted to share what writing time looks like in our classroom- they really love it! Happy Friday! We made it another week :) This class is doing such a great job- I can't believe how well behaved they are and how much fun we are having everyday! It has truly been a pleasure working with all 23 of them day in and day out! A few things... Thanks so much for everyone who was able to attend Open House. It was good to see you all again and the kids seemed to have so much fun showing you around THEIR classroom. Don't forget, the color days continue next week. If you've misplaced the schedule, I have included it below... One important side note :) The blue take home folders have two pockets on the inside: one labeled "return to school" and the other labeled "keep at home." Please INGORE those labels. The students put their own things into their folder and we don't pay attention to those labels. Most school work will stay at home- and the homework will be listed in this blog to be returned. Sometimes I will ask students to finish something at home, but I will typically put a sticky note on that for you. Hope this helps :) Fun Run information: Fun Run will take place on September 25th and will be during our Specials time. If you'd like to come and cheer on your runner- you're welcome to :) We will be out there from 2:15-3:30.
A quick update on our week/day... We start the day with doing calendar each day, we talk about the day and month, along with numbers and the date. They have learned a days of the week song...see if they can remember it :) If not, they will for sure next week! We attended an assembly on Friday- they talked to us about the Fun Run coming home today. They did an amazing job at the assembly- fantastic listeners and great role models! After, we had an evacuation drill- we practiced what we'd do incase of an emergency inside the building...again, a great job done by all. Later- we learned Zoo Phonics letters and sounds. Some of the kiddos had seen these letters before at preschool, for some it was brand new. We use this curriculum to teach letters and sounds. It is a fun way that really seems to stick with the kids. Here is a link incase you're interested...however, we've changed some of the motions a little bit. Click here to see sample of Zoo Phonics. To follow Zoo Phonics, I let the kids get the iPads out...they've been begging!! We used the app Letter School to reinforce the letters. They thought this was the coolest thing ever!! I am sure some might ask you to download it for home :) It is a great, educational app, so it might be worth it. I apologize for not blogging earlier, but I just didn't get to it...we've been busy learning the routines, the structures, and the expectations. I am super happy with how it is all falling into place, they are catching on quickly! Be sure to check out the pics below and the first NEWSLETTER (see below)...this will come weekly, detailing the week ahead. It often contains IMPORTANT info, please take the time to read it each week. I will always send the link in an email to remind you.
Have a great weekend!
