Today was a great day- the class earned their last 3 rewards. I had a nice compliment from the guest teacher on Friday. She said that the class was amazing, very polite and respectful to her and each other. This is what I hope for when I leave the classroom, so we had a nice talk this morning on how much a report like that means to me! Kind of like when you hope your kids behave when you aren't with them :) I hope for the same from all 22 of these kiddos- and they pulled through, I expected nothing less!
We read the traditional version of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, and did a quick retell of the story. Through modeling, I taught the class how to take pictures of each page of the book and how to load the pictures into 30hands to do a retell. My hope is that I motivate them to try this on their own sometime. Give them a few days, I am sure I will be posting a few of their own attempts. My ultimate goal is to show them avenues to use creativity and critical thinking and let them find the times when they think it will work...becoming self-directed learners, taking learning on their own path.
