We had a great week- we are starting a countdown for the last day of school! I can't believe how close it really is! We've got lots of learning to do these last few weeks. IMPORTANT DATES May 27th: Field Day May 29th: Father's Day Picnic @ 11:30 June 4th: End of the Year Party: Booknic (yes, a Booknic, not a picnic) Information to follow- there will be many food items to sign up for. Look below for some pictures of our Pet Rock project and village...it is pretty cool- the kids really want to share it with you! | Theme This Week: Author Study: Leo Lionni Reading: Here are the concepts we will cover in Reading Street: Text-Based Comprehension: Character Phonics: /o/ spelled Oo Phonemic Awareness: Initial and medial /o/ Popcorn Words: where, is, go, that, come (review of these) Writing: This Pet Rock project has been so much fun! The kids look forward to writing EVERY single day! We've created the village- it is quite amazing! We've also written letters to the important people in our district that are going to come and check out our learning very soon! We had to persuade them to come! The letters turned out great!! And- we are making posters to show people why Pet Rocks are the best pets! And, if there is time, we are going to write and record songs about Pet Rocks! Phew...what a fun learning experience! 100% student driven and hands-on!
