IMPORTANT DATES: December 12th: Grinch Day- We will have a fun Grinch themed day on this Friday. This will be just a classroom event, not something for parents and families to attend. But, see the note in your child's folder, and it is also further down in this blog post....it has the details of the event :) Also look for a SignUp Genius from me with a few items we need for the "feast." This will be an afternoon snack, it will not be in place of lunch. December 18th: Holiday Sing- 9:30am. This event will take place at SALINE HIGH SCHOOL. We will bus your child there and back. This is a pretty special event, they get super excited for it. Something worth taking time off work for. December 19th: Pajamas and Pancakes- this is our holiday party. We will eat pancakes first thing in the morning and have a nice relaxing day of fun filled activities. Families welcome for the morning breakfast :) Look for the SingUp Genius already sent out my the room parents. | Theme This Week: Reindeer Reading: We've been working hard at learning how to read and those that are reading are really progressing. It is so fun to see the lightbulb moments! It is all coming together so nicely! Here are the Reading Street concepts we will be focusing on this week: Comprehension: Compare and Contrast Phonics: /n/ spelled Nn and /b/ spelled Bb Phonemic Awareness: Initial and Final /n/ and /b/ Popcorn Words: me, with, she Writing: We've jumped back into Writing Workshop- focusing on true stories: stories that we know a lot about. We have talked about and will be talking about telling our stories with lots of details, with a beginning, middle, and end. We will also keep talking about making our writing readable for our readers, using punctuation, spaces and lots of sounds in words. This unit is really putting together everything we've learned and doing it better this time around. It is going well! I've read some really great TRUE stories! Math: This week we will be focusing on these concepts: combining pattern blocks to form different shapes, composing and decomposing numbers in multiple ways, exploring weight and capacity. |
