Friday finally brought some really nice weather! We spend a little extra time outside today- enjoyed the warmth and sun! Some even complained they were hot!! We quickly got back in to the swing of things this week and we picked up right were we left off. We had a great week and we can't believe we are down to just weeks left of school! IMPORTANT DATES May 8th: Mother's Day Tea @ 9:30 May 29th: Father's Day Picnic @ 12:30 | Theme This Week: Planting/Earth Day Reading: Here are the concepts we will cover in Reading Street: Text-Based Comprehension: Plot Phonics: /u/ spelled Uu (week 2) Phonemic Awareness: initial and medial /u/ (week 2) Popcorn Words: what, said, was **We do spend extra time on our vowels, as you've noticed throughout the year. Vowels are the trickiest for kids to learn...their sounds are so similar and are sometimes hard to hear when they are in the middle of words. Writing: Persuasive writing is so much fun! This is my favorite writing unit and I think the kids are having a blast with it too! They are really loving finding problems that they need to fix! They are also enjoying the choice in deciding how they will persuade their audience. This week we will continue to work on persuasive language and how to best convince the audience....super fun!! Math: Here are the concepts/lessons we will work on this week: recognizing/describing 3-d shapes and attributes, 2-d and 2-d shape models, measure/compare lengths of time, counting forward from numbers other than 1 t throughout the 1-100 sequence. |
